- If you don’t see these features, you may not have received the latest updates. Depending on your operating system, check for Office updates for PC or Office updates for Mac. To switch between subscriptions, such as switching from Office 365 Personal to Office 365 Home, see Switch to a different Office 365 subscription.
- This applies for both Office 365 for Mac and Office 2019 for Mac users. What about Office 2016 for Mac? If you have a one-time purchase of Office 2016 for Mac or you have Office 365 for Mac and are using the Office 2016 for Mac build on macOS versions earlier than 10.13, your Office system requirements will not change.
- Install Office for Mac now. Office 365 customers get the new Office for Mac first. You’ll have Office applications on your Mac or PC, apps on tablets and smartphones for when you're on the go, and Office Online on the web for everywhere in between.
- Microsoft Office compatibility. As we warned back in June, older Office for Mac will not work with MacOS Catalina. If you have Office 2011 for Mac or before, do NOT update to Catalina because Office will stop working. There’s no workaround for this.

Apple has long encouraged application developers to adopt the 64-bit runtime environment, and we've been hearing from customers that 64-bit versions of Office for Mac are desirable to enable larger address spaces, better performance, and new innovative features.
After an upgrade to Mac OS 10.15 no programs in my Office 2011 work anymore. Calls to Apple and Microsoft support ended the same way-I have to pay for it again because my old purchase license key doesn't work anymore, nor does Microsoft 2011 on OS 10.15. I'm told that my only choice is to purchase it again and I have no money.

Sep 26, 2015 The Windows date picker is an Active-X control which is not supported on Macintosh. You can try this one: But, I'm not sure it works in Excel 2016 yet. Ron follows this forum and may jump in with the answer. As far as I know, his is the only one that will work on a Mac. How to get updates for macOS Mojave or later
If you've upgraded to macOS Mojave or later, follow these steps to keep it up to date:
- Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu , then click Software Update to check for updates.
- If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them. Or click ”More info” to see details about each update and select specific updates to install.
- When Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are also up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, Books, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime.
To find updates for iMovie, Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and other apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, open the App Store on your Mac, then click the Updates tab.
To automatically install macOS updates in the future, including apps that were downloaded separately from the App Store, select ”Automatically keep my Mac up to date.” Your Mac will notify you when updates require it to restart, so you can always choose to install those later.
How to get updates for earlier macOS versions
If you're using an earlier macOS, such as macOS High Sierra, Sierra, El Capitan, or earlier,* follow these steps to keep it up to date:
- Open the App Store app on your Mac.
- Click Updates in the App Store toolbar.
- Use the Update buttons to download and install any updates listed.
- When the App Store shows no more updates, the installed version of macOS and all of its apps are up to date. That includes Safari, iTunes, iBooks, Messages, Mail, Calendar, Photos, and FaceTime. Later versions may be available by upgrading your macOS.
To automatically download updates in the future, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click App Store, then select ”Download newly available updates in the background.” Your Mac will notify you when updates are ready to install.
* If you're using OS X Lion or Snow Leopard, get OS X updates by choosing Apple menu > Software Update.
